Classic Bindery Services - a fine finish!
I am SO far behind in blogging about my projects that I think I’m first! Such is life. This next project goes back a month…
It was the middle of December when I received a phone call from Jonathan Marks - a local entrepreneur needing a website for his Richmond BC based printing company Classic Bindery Services Ltd.
Jonathan was referred to JenTekk by Rob Eichhorn of North49 Businss Solutions - a project that I undertook with my business partner Rastin Mehr. Thanks again Rob for the referral!
With Jonathan being prepared, and through a series of questions we were able to determine quickly that the project should include a customizable quote form, have a very clean design, and that they should be able to maintain the website themselves.
We discussed a few solutions, and I suggested Joomla! - an Open Source CMS that I’ve recently come to adore. Incidently, I didn’t know this at the time but Jonathan Marks is an avid contributor to Linux and the Open Source Community - very cool! Now it makes sense why I didn’t have to “sell” him on the concept of Joomla. Yes, the Open Source community is just that hip!
In addition to the previous mentioned requirements, there was one more small detail: I chose to take on the project with the goal of completing it within 2 weeks. Sleep?? Who needs sleep!
Grabbing the bull by the horns, I quickly called up my associate and business partner Rastin Mehr (rmd Studio) to see if he had time to help me pull this together. Rastin is also always up for a fun challenge, so he accepted the job.
I informed Jonathan that we would do our very best to have the site complete and launched before Christmas.
Bang! The gun went off, and it was a race to the finish line. Being very computer literate, Jonathan chose to develop the website content himself. Rasting installed and configured Joomla, added Search Engine Friendly URLs, and incorporated a customizable quote form. I took care of template design (crossbrowser compatible), information design, and training!
In true JenTekk & rmd Studio fashion, the site was complete before the 25th of December - only 11 days after the agreement signing! Cue victory theme from “Rocky”!
Thank you Rastin for collaborating with me on this project. I couldn’t have done it without you!
A great big thank you to Jonathan for giving us the opportunity to assist you with your website. Working with you was a pleasure. Because of your internet savvy, candor, and ability to communicate your needs clearly - completing this project on time was possible.
Rastin an I both wish you loads of success with Classic Bindery Services. It was indeed a great race, and a fine finish to 2007!
