ACT I: Humble Beginnings

Being a business owner myself I empathized with other entrepreneurs wishing to run a successful business, and trying to generate leads for employment opportunities.

In 2004 I discovered the power of networking.

Attending networking breakfasts, and engaging in online communities and participating in events opened up a new world of opportunity and resource. One where I could contribute to, and receive from other business owners.

It was this awakening in 2006 that led me to create the Tazzu Networking Forums.

With the forum built, 21 invitations sent, and the support of 4 amazing moderators, a safe environment was created for the members to network, exchange ideas, and ultimately make connections that could grow their businesses.

It wasn’t long before we had a thriving & vibrant networking community!

ACT II: The Rise & Fall

In 2007 I partnered up with my dear friend Rastin of rmd Studio and incorporated: TAZZU™ Networking Ltd.

Together, with the AMAZING support of TAZZU™ Members, we began to grow. We held many “face-to-face” networking events, turn out was typically stellar!

In 2008 TAZZU™ sponsored (along with other companies) WordPress Camp, Joomla! DemoCamp, Joomla! DocCamp, and ultimately Joomla!Day Vancouver. TAZZU™ was in da house.

What led to the fall of TAZZU™ was purely accidental.

Technology has a way of changing the course of destiny. While performing a routine software upgrade we encountered an issue, which caused major data loss and irreparable damage to the TAZZU™ Forum.

Salvaging what we could, we rebuilt TAZZU™, only months later to have a server crash – ALL was lost.

On April 11th, 2011 and with mixed emotions, Rastin and I announced the legal dissolution of Tazzu™ Networking Ltd.

It seemed that TAZZU™ was not meant to be.

ACT III: Reviving TAZZU™

While technology had not been kind to TAZZU™, what I’d quickly learned was there was no keeping the loyal TAZZU™ Membership down.

Since the dissolution of TAZZU™ I’d received many requests to keep TAZZU™ going. My heart was in complete agreement with the Members, but I was sure their patience had been tried beyond its limits. I was positive 2011 had dealt TAZZU™ a fateful T.K.O.

And yet many Members still stand firm.

So, with the support & encouragement of YOU – the remarkable, resilient and tenacious TAZZU™ Members – and with a personal renewed passion for the original vision, I’ve decided to revive TAZZU™.

Now more than ever, I believe in the power of community, and in the kind of strength that comes when people band together for something they believe in.

Thank you everyone for not letting the passion die. I will do my best with your help to ensure that TAZZU™ lives on.

In short: last June JenTekk received an email from the Ministry of Education inquiring about creating a website for an online kids writing contest they were sponsoring. The contest was to be a part of a province-wide celebration: the BC Library Association’s 100th Anniversary!

I jumped at the opportunity. Having designed BCLA’s Kids Summer Reading Club’s websites since 2006 – and enjoying it full tilt – I couldn’t resist!

As a token of their appreciation, the Ministry of Education they sent me this copy of the commemorative book.

Thank you to BCLA, Ministry of Education and Province of BC for this delightful token of your appreciation, and for the opportunity to be a part of this wonderful celebration!

The project got underway in September of 2011 with much time already spent by Amy Juschka (Boucher’s Communications Officer) determining the needs of all Users including the Organization, Prospective Students, CE Department and Medical Clinic.

Thanks to Joomla, and all the wonderful Joomla extension developers, we were able to develop a site that did exactly what Boucher needed it to do.

Such was the case with Colleen Beland of 2nd Chance Debt Arbitration Service.

I met Colleen at a networking event back when she was working in another area of finance. I found her vibrant, smart, trustworthy and truly kind, we hit it off right away. Colleen had all the characteristics of someone I could trust as a friend, AND with my money. I hired her financial services without a second thought.

As she planned marketing her new company 2nd Chance, Colleen asked if I would be interested in assisting her with her online presence. Not only was I interested, I was honored!

We chose to use the very popular Joomla! CMS so that Colleen could manage the site herself. The project went exactly as I’d anticipated: with much enthusiasm, passion and appreciation from both sides.
