Lots of good things are happening down at BlueFur. This recently added feature – Customer of the Week – is just one of many to come.

You see, on Feb. 11th 2010, BlueFur announced that it is now under new ownership and that we can expect lots of positive changes, especially in the customer care and service dept.

I’ve always had great response with the customer service – so to read how they are going to turn it up another notch is simply fantastic. Keep it coming!

This time last year I was in the throws of creating Cafe Yogi – a Community for Bikram Hot Yoga Enthusiasts, which included a blog and message board.

I admit, I bit off more than I could chew by trying to tackle a second community – while also nurturing Tazzu – an IT/Business Community that I co-founded several years ago with my business partner Rastin Mehr of rmdStudio.

Long story short, I did not have the time to nurture the yoga community as it needed, and was only able to commit to sporadic blog posts & forum posts, which is unfair to the members.

So, rather than let it die a slow and painful death, I’ve packed it up.

Before letting it go, I did however back up the site (Joomla, phpBB3, and WordPress) and databases. With some interest shown in purchasing it, someone might yet pick it up and revive it.

It’s been wonderful getting to know the very enthusiastic, caring and supportive Bikram Hot Yoga Community. You will still be able to read posts about my Bikram Hot Yoga journey on my Facebook page!

See you there, I wish you all well.

Namaste!

Lately I asked a dear friend if she’d made any resolutions for the New Year. She responded “The month is too depressing as it is to beat myself up on top of that.”

I had to think about this a moment. I’d never looked at the resolutions made in January as a way of punishing ourselves.

For me, the new year brings a clean slate, freshness, new beginnings and hope!

Of course we could look at each month/week/day/minute as a new beginning, but it seems that in January I like to take inventory of the previous year, and do more of what brings me satisfaction and less of what didn’t feel so good.

So, what are my ‘resolutions’?

PERSONAL
Live in the moment, spend more time with family & friends. Laugh as much as possible. Reward my body with delicious healthy food, and good exercise.

WORK
Be pickier about my clients and really enjoy the ones I have. Great clients make life a dream – one bad client can ruin all the fun!

SPIRITUAL
Pray lots, make more room in my life for God, love & acceptance, patience, grace, forgiveness and charity. Count my blessings everyday… the glass is always completely full!

I LOVE January!

How do you feel about making resolutions in the New Year? Make ‘em? Fake ‘em? or Bake ‘em?

Look closer… much closer! If it looks too good to be true, it is! Scams are everywhere, and unless people blow the horn on them, they will continue to take advantage of unsuspecting people.

Today I received the following (read below) money transfer scam email in my company inbox.

It is much like the “Mystery Shopper Scam” that I received and blogged about a while back, in that you are told you will receive payment (money orders/checks) to be cashed at your Bank, you deduct 10%, which will be your percentage/pay on Payment processed and then forward the balance via Western Union Money Transfer according to the instructions.

What happens in reality is this… you forward money from your bank account to these crooks, and when you find out that the cheques/money orders are fraud your money is gone, and there’s no way of getting it back.

Does this sound familiar? It’s the Mystery Shopper Scam all over again, only now posing simply as an emailed “Job Offer”.

Read the email for yourself and be warned!

I was surfing through JenTekk old site design folders and came upon the original site design – from back in 2001, and several others that followed.

They were experiments in color and style, but mostly reflected the fact that I really was still trying to find my own identity and my own personal website design style.

I will post them from the earliest to the latest, its been quite the journey. Enjoy!

2001: JenTekk’s first website – static

Not bad for a first try, but after a while I felt it was too conservative, too blue.

2003: JenTekk second site – flash

My next design I wanted to implement more color, and a unique style. In addition I wanted to showcase my flash skills. This is what I turned out:

2005: JenTekk’s third site – static

Having wet my feet with brighter colors on the flash site, I decided to take it one step further. I opted for very vibrant colors (I think they actually scratched the retina’s of one’s eyes) and an unconventional site layout & design. This site design borders on being obnoxious!

Each page of this site was another abusive color. I’m not sure if you noticed, but I had changed my logo as well. This site and logo wasn’t going to last long. Most people either loved it or hated it… lol! Not a good thing.

2006: JenTekk’s fourth site – flash

This flash website was made strictly to showcase my flash skills. I also wanted it to be very creative, and was actually quite happy with the way this site turned out, but I still hadn’t secured my identity and brand with this project.

2007: JenTekk’s current website – dynamic

Fortunately, after years of designing websites for other people, I started to get a feel for who JenTekk was, and who my target market was.

My current site design showed my own personal style and philosophy on site design, which is what I wanted to reflect as a brand… it was simple, vibrant, and professional.

I’d finally came up with a logo, a color, a style, and a brand that I could be proud of and hang on to:

This site is clean, has a large band of vibrant color, with subtle hues of the same color (in the menu, footer and page titles) to add some life.

The different images in the header add some interest without being over-the-top, and used to enhance the message of that particular page.

When its time to update my website design (yes I like to keep up-to-date with the latest trends) I can guarantee it won’t be too different from this one.

We’ve come a long way baby! JenTekk is finally in da house!
