Taking on a project from an acquaintance who becomes a networking partner who becomes a friend who becomes a clients is always so exciting!

Mutual respect has already been established making the trust factor hurdle a non-issue. Additionally, knowing my client’s personality, priorities and passions make it easier when deciding the direction – look & feel, and tone – of the website.

Such was the case with Colleen Beland of 2nd Chance Debt Arbitration Service.

I met Colleen at a networking event back when she was working in another area of finance. I found her vibrant, smart, trustworthy and truly kind, we hit it off right away. Colleen had all the characteristics of someone I could trust as a friend, AND with my money. I hired her financial services without a second thought.

As she planned marketing her new company 2nd Chance, Colleen asked if I would be interested in assisting her with her online presence. Not only was I interested, I was honored!

We chose to use the very popular Joomla! CMS so that Colleen could manage the site herself. The project went exactly as I’d anticipated: with much enthusiasm, passion and appreciation from both sides.

Colleen, thanks again for the opportunity to assist you with your website! I know how passionate you are about helping people out of financial debt… everyone deserves a 2nd chance!

I wish you all the best my friend!

We really enjoy designing sites for kids. It demands color, energy and a certain playfulness.

That is what we feel we’ve accomplished with the BC Library’s latest Kids educational project: Express Yourself: The BC Kids Writing Contest.

JenTekk was contacted June 1st with an opportunity to design a small site for the BC Library Association in conjunction with the Ministry of Education, providing Kids with an opportunity to showcase their writing skills. The only catch was, they needed it done yesterday!

Unable to resist a challenge, working with the BC Library Association again and finally for the love of our kids – I took it on! Fortunately all the preliminary work was ready: basic content, site objectives, and functionality requirements.

Here it is 2 weeks later and launched!

Thanks once again to BCLA et al for the opportunity! May the “Express Yourself” writing contest be a huge success for you, and for our kids!

JenTekk is pleased to announce the launch of our latest project CL’cK – Connecting Learners with Knowledge.

Funded by the Vancouver Coastal Health Authority, with 7 other sponsors, Fraser Health, Interior Health, Northern Health, Provincial Health, Providence Health Care and BC Health Education, the CL’cK web site was built to connect front-line health care staff with the knowledge they need to improve outcomes for their clients.

Website Goals

To meet the goals of this Pilot Project, the CL’cK web site needed much of the content to be accessible to the public, while other more sensitive content would be viewable only to registered users.

CL’cK required an area where registered users could privately discuss their challenges including sharing images, videos and links. They needed a robust document repository system where they were also able to upload learning material.

Additional functionality included the ability for registered users to post events and web links, and where they could search and view each others private profiles in order to strengthen relationships.

Software

According to the above web site functionality needs, the following software was used:

Front End

Joomla CMS – open source website solution

Community Builder – for site registration & private profiles

Kunena – private community discussion board, with additional private profile, photo and video sharing

PhocaDownload – for all users to download documents, registered users permitted to upload document

EventList – public event calender permitting registered users to add events

Administration:

JM Sitemap – a sitemap generator

Akeeba – automated website back-up software

Jumi – for adding php, html, javascript scripts into the modules, articles, category or section descriptions

It was a pleasure to work with the CL’cK Pilot Project Team, thank you for choosing JenTekk!

I wish you all the best, and look forward to our continued relationship as the site evolves.
